General QuestionsWhere and under what conditions are ECO Brotbox products produced?
We at ECO Brotbox attach great importance to the origin of our products. Our lunch boxes are produced in a family business in South India. The local production conditions were personally inspected by founder Mustafa. The employed workers receive a fair wage that is above the minimum wage set by the authorities and, of course, no children are employed in the production facilities. These conditions have been officially certified by the manufacturer. The occupational safety management is ISO-certified.
The stainless steel used is sourced exclusively from India’s state-owned stainless steel producer SAIL (Steel Authority of India). Strict production guidelines apply there, so that we can guarantee a consistently high quality for our products.
Our drinking and vacuum bottles as well as our insulated food containers are produced responsibly in China. Here, too, we have attached particular importance to working with a company that produces under fair conditions and according to European standards. Just like our production partner in India, we also work closely with our Chinese production facility. Here, too, Mustafa was convinced by a personal visit that they adhered to our values.
For our lunch boxes only the highest quality stainless steel type AISI 204cu, a chrome-nickel alloy with approx. 16.5% chrome content and approx. 2% nickel content, is used. AISI is the American Iron and Steel Institute. Due to the low nickel content, our products are also harmless for many nickel allergy sufferers. Of course, it does not contain lead, cadmium or other harmful substances. Food packed in our bread and lunch boxes does not come into contact with any chemicals or harmful substances.
The German GALAB Laboratories have certified the material to be absolutely food safe. Our products are acid-resistant and show no odour or taste deviations. In addition, the stainless steel used is rust-proof and therefore suitable for cleaning in the dishwasher. Stainless steels with at least 10.5% chromium content are considered stainless, the steel we use contains approx. 16.5% chromium.
Our bottles and insulated containers are made of DIN 18/8 stainless steel. They are also food safe and stainless.
Questions about useAre ECO Brotbox products durable?
In order to fulfil the wish for a leak-proof box, we also have leak proof boxes with sealing rings in our range – the Tiffin Swing, Tiffin Pro, BO & LI.
Both cold and hot food and drinks can be transported in the boxes and bottles of ECO Brotbox. However, since our standard products are only single-walled stainless steel, these products have no insulating function.
If you want to keep your drinks cold or hot for longer, we recommend our insulated products made of double-walled stainless steel.
Note: The temperature changes of the individual products were measured under room temperature conditions
The leak-proof, non-insulating Tiffin Swing should not be filled with boiling hot food, as this creates a vacuum which makes it difficult to open the box again. Please allow the food to cool briefly before filling.
For a manual rinse we recommend warm water and some mild detergent. Our bottles have a wide opening and can be thoroughly cleaned with standard bottle brushes. At regular intervals, depending on the contents, the sealing ring of the bottle caps should be removed, cleaned and replaced (see video: Removing and inserting the sealing ring). The sealing ring is made of food-safe silicone. However, it can change colour after some time (e.g. black tea or similar drinks). This is normal and has no effect on the functionality of the sealing ring. To remove discolouration from the bottle and the sealing ring, place the sealing ring in the bottle, fill in a little vinegar and hot water, allow to take effect and then clean with the bottle brush and rinse thoroughly.
Replacement silicone rings are available in our online shop.
Basically, the containers can be used for freezing. Frequent freezing can, however, cause material fatigue. This shortens the lifetime of the boxes. It is also important not to fill the frozen food too high so that the frozen food can spread without stretching the container. The frozen food can cause a very high pressure and deform the box.
Here you can find our video tutorials on the topic:
– Setting the standard clamps (Dabba Magic, Bread Box XL, Bread Box XL double, Cube Box, Cube Box XL, Tiffin Double and Tiffin Triple):
– Adjusting the clamps with clip lock (Tiffin Swing, Tiffin Bowl and Tiffin Double XL):
So please let the food cool down a little before closing your box. For very hot food (over 70 degrees) it is recommended to remove the sealing rings – but now the box is no longer tight.
If you have problems opening the box, you can find a video on the topic here.
